Annual General Meeting and celebrating its 55th anniversary

The Hong Kong Jewellers' & Goldsmiths' Association was holding its Annual General Meeting and celebrating its 55th anniversary at the Metropolitan Restaurant, 438 King's Road, North Point, Hong Kong.

More than 200 hundred guests participated in the event, including the following: Mr. Cheung Sai Yan- Head of Trade Controls Branch Principal of the Hong Kong Customs & Excise Department; Mr. Wong Shiu Ming-Trade Controls Officer of Consumer Protection & Prosecution Bureau of the Hong Kong Customs & Excise Department; Ms. Connie Lau- Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Council; Ms. Wendy Lam- Vice Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Council; Ms Fan Ching Yin- Regional Office Hong Kong West and Island of ICAC; Ms Lam Ip Yan- Office Relationship Officer of Central & Western District; Mr. Ralph Chow- Director of Product Promotion of Hong Kong Trade Development Council; Ms Anne Chung- Exhibition Manager of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Ms Anna Cheung- Product Promotion Manager of Hong Kong Trade Development Council; Ms Anne Chung- Exhibition Manager of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Ms Anna Cheung- Product Promotion Manager of Hong Kong Trade Development Council; Mr. Lawrence Ma- President of Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China Ltd; Mr. River Si -Vice Chairman of Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China Ltd; Mr. Carl Sin and Ricky Lam-Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacture Association; Mr. Chu Kee Tao- Vice Chairman of The Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades & Industries Ltd; Mr. Herbert Tsang - General Manager ofThe Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society; Mr. Lam Shing Ming -Vice President of Hong Kong Gold & Silver Ornament Workers & Merchants General Union; Ms. Mimi Ouyang- Vice Chairman of The Gemmological Association of Hong Kong Mr. Wong Wai Sheung-Chairman of Kowloon Gold Silver & Jewel Merchants' Staff Association; Mr. Mok Ping Wo-Chairman of Hong Kong & Kowloon Jewellers and Goldsmiths Employees' Association.

The ceremony was grand but simple. The Chairman reviewed the work and achievements of the Association in the past year: The Hong Kong Jewellers' & Goldsmiths Association and the Kowloon Pearl Precious Stone, Jade, Gold and Silver Ornament Merchants Association implemented the "Natural Fei Cei Quality Mark" Scheme at the beginning 2007.191 shops took part in the event. To further promote the scheme this year, we are to advertise through Television networks on July and August 2008, promoting that shops with the "Natural Fei Cei Quality Mark" sell only the natural Jade.

Organized by the Hong Kong Jewellers' & Goldsmiths' Association and sponsored by Hong Kong Trade Development Council and World Gold Council, the Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition 2008 was successfully held for the 12th year on 4th March 2008. 18 winning designs and the Media Award were announced. The prize presentation was held at the Gala Evening of the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, which took place on the same day.

The advertising promotion for "Quality Gold Mark 2008" was launched through the TVB, ATV, Cable TV and 30 buses on the first quarter of 2008.

Recommend Suppliers Scheme will continue to take place this year.

To express sympathy and support to the victims of Sichuan Earthquake, the Association made a donation of HK$300,000 through "The Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporated ¡V Donations"
