| The Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition 2010 (Prize Presentation and Announcement of ˇ§Media-belovedˇ¨ Award) |
Organized by the Hong Kong Jewellers' & Goldsmiths' Association and sponsored by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the World Gold Council, the Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition 2010 is running for its 13th year. The prize presentation, during which 22 winning designs was announced and the voting for the Media-beloved Award was conducted, was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 5th March.
The competition aimed to stimulate the creativity and raise the standard of craftsmanship of the Chuk Kam jewellery industry in order to meet the market demand, promoting Chuk Kam jewellery through innovative designs. The competition was divided into Open Group, Fashionable 18K Group and Student Group. All groups were to highlight the idea of "Only Gold-Love without frontiers" of the World Gold Council with emphasis on the designing themes of "Heritage", "Care" and "Vision".
Over 200 design sketches were received, all of which went through a preliminary screening on 9th October 2009. Shortlisted entries were made into products and they were judged for the final round on 5th January 2010.
The judging panel comprised of 5 judges, including Mr. Jason Cheung, Head of Creative Department of HKTDC; Mr. Albert Cheng, Managing Director, Far East of WGC; Miss Ku Kei Kwan Priscilla, Famous Artist; Mr. River L. H. Si, ice-chairman,
Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China Limited; Mr. Barrie Ho Chow Lee, Founder and Director of Barrie Ho Architecture Interiors Ltd.
Entries were judged according to their practicability and potentials to stimulate the Chuk Kam jewellery market, their flexible use of the properties of Chuk Kam, creativity, craftsmanship and attractiveness.

ˇX To celebrate the creativity of the winning designs, a winning banner would be displayed for the winning sponsoring company and exhibitor of the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2010.
ˇX The winner of the ˇ§Media-belovedˇ¨ award was once again selected based on votes of participating reporters.
ˇX The Student Group performed excellently, producing the biggest number of award winners in the Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition. Two of the 10 winners came from the Mainland, while the other eight are from IVE (Lee Wai Lee).
Winning designs will be displayed in the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2010 from 5th to 9th March at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
