香港警務處呼籲   提防售賣口罩的詐騙網站

近日，警方發現有騙徒偽冒其他公司、開設假的網站並發放出售口罩的訊息。買家付款後，卻未能取得貨物，而騙徒亦失去網聯絡。其中一宗案件涉及損失金額超過港幣二百萬元。

警方呼籲
在進行網上交易時要謹慎，在交易前須留意以下要點：

—        進行網上交易活動時，應先暸解對方公司的可信性及核實其身分，建議主動查證及再三向相關機構 / 公司核實；
—        不要連接濫發電郵等不可信賴來源所載的URL連結，以免被看似合法的惡意連結轉往惡意網站。
—        如對對方身分有所懷疑，應立即停止交易；
—        如與海外人士 / 公司進行交易，須明白到不同地區的法律對有關交易的保護程度和風險；及
—        如有懷疑，請即致電「防騙易」諮詢熱線18222。

收到此電郵訊息後，煩請將此電郵轉發給　貴公司員工，特別是需採購口罩的相關部門，提防受騙。 感謝你的協助。

Police Appeal – Beware of Phishing Website offering to sell surgical masks

Recently, police observed that there are fraudsters impersonating other companies, created phishing websites and offer to sell surgical masks. Buyers foot the bill but fail to get any ordered items afterwards, and the fraudsters went out of reach. One of the cases involved losses in excess of HK $ 2 million.

Police advice
Stay alert and take heed of the followings prior to online transactions:

— Ascertain the credibility of other parties and verify their identity before conducting any transactions. It is recommended to proactively check with relevant institutions / companies;
— Do not follow URL links from un-trusted sources such as spam emails to avoid being re-directed to malicious websites by malicious links looking seemingly legitimate;
— Abort the transaction if there is any doubt about the identity of the parties involved;
— Take note of the coverage of legal protection and the risks involved in different jurisdictions if transactions are conducted with parties overseas; and
— If in doubt, please call the Anti-scam Helpline 18222 immediately.
